Description

Delegation for Managers

One of the most challenging transitions for supervisors or leaders to make is the shift from doing to leading. Managers or team leads may be tempted to hold on to work that should be delegated to others. The idea of 'rolling up your sleeves' may be admirable but it has its drawbacks in the long term.

As management responsibilities become more complex the ability to delegate and hold others accountable is vital to the development of effective and sustainable leadership.

This workshop offers managers and team leads the opportunity to fine-tune their practice and to 'sharpen their saw' when it comes to leading and directing others.

Course participants will receive a number of tools that will support their work moving forward.

By the end of this workshop participants will:

  • Envision and communicate an appealing model of working in the ‘new normal’ to inspire team members towards positive action (Tool 1 VUCA)
  • Define and understand the meaning and practice of delegation (Tool 2)
  • Self-assess strengths and weaknesses in the practice of delegation
  • Learn how to allocate tasks with purpose and increase the likelihood of commitment, accountability, and follow-through
  • Explore the concept of Psychological safety and be able to apply the main principles in practice (Tool 3)
  • Explore the power of mindset in the practice of leading and directing individuals and teams (Tool 4)
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships using the conversational intelligence dashboard to communicate and delegate key tasks to others (Tool 5)
  • Explore the concept of ‘amygdala hijack’ and learn how to avoid negative self-talk (Tool 6)
  • Define your 'Why' and communicate key business messages when delegating to others (Tool 7)
  • Examine Lencioni's team dysfunctions and learn to manage unproductive and unhealthy behaviour (Tool 8)
