Welcome to this online training course on Risk Assessment and Method Statement, or RAMS for short. 

Accidents and ill health can ruin lives and can also affect business if the output is lost, machinery damaged, or insurance costs increase. Therefore, carrying out risk assessments preparing and implementing safety statements, and keeping both up to date will not themselves prevent accidents and ill health but will play a crucial part in reducing the likelihood.

Risk Assessments and Method statements are practices designed to assess what hazards are present in your workplace and how you or your colleagues might reduce any potential risk of injury by working out the safest possible approach to the task. This is done by:

• Identifying what can harm people in your workplace;
• Identifying who might be harmed and how;
• Evaluating the hazards and deciding on the appropriate controls, taking into account the controls you already have in place;
• Recording your risk assessment and
• Reviewing and updating your assessment.
